Hello Rain, Goodbye Internet

Hello everyone and happy Monday to you all.  I am happy to say that we here in Phoenix actually saw some rain this weekend.  It rained on Friday and on Saturday.  It was a welcome relief from the high temperatures we have been having.  I did spend part of both days crafting in my craft room.  I planned to share what I was doing with you today.  However, when it rains our internet becomes sporadic.  It is in and out all day.  Just typing this took some time.  So I am not going to try to post anything today and let the internet get back to normal.  By tomorrow we should be golden and I will share my weekend work with you.  Thanks for all your understanding and I will see you all tomorrow.

A Famous Dinosaur

Happy Friday everyone!!  It sure has been a crazy week.  We welcomed home my daughter's boyfriend who had been training in Florida for 2 months and the weather actually brought us a little rain.  My husband's work schedule also changed this week so we are all trying to get use to the new routine.  I am ready for some relaxation time!

Yesterday, I shared a cute little dinosaur with you.  I showed him to my daughter and she really liked most of him.  Notice I said most not all.  She did not like the round head.  She felt I should have made it with an oval instead.  I must say that after sitting and looking at him and placing an oval over the circle, I have to agree with her.  So I knew this would be a change I would make on my next one.  I also must tell you that when I looked at him with an oval head, I immediately thought of a famous dinosaur that I love - Dino from the Flintstones.  Since I have made a Wilma and Fred as well as Betty and Barney, I thought why not give Dino a try.  Please keep in mind this is my first attempt and there will be some flaws.  Overall though I think he is pretty good.

I started with a base card of Rose Red cut at 4 1/4" x 11" scored at 5 1/2".  I added a layer of Basic Black on top of that cut at 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" and attached it with runner adhesive.  For my top layer, I started with a piece of Whisper White cut at 4" x 5 1/4".  I took out my pastels and chalked a sky background on it.  Next I cut a strip of Garden Green to be 1 1/2" x 5 1/4" and attached it to the sky with runner adhesive.  I then cut a piece of Whisper White 1" x 5 1/4" and ran it through my big shot using a Mosaic impression folder.  I wanted it to have the look of stones and this folder was the closest I could get. I added some gray chalk to it also.   I attached it to the grass and sky using runner adhesive.  For the house, I used my big shot and the retired ovals die.  I cut out the largest oval on that die and flattened one side for the base of the house.  I cut this out of Whisper White and then chalked it with a gray pastel.  I drew the window, door and spots on using my Stampin' Up! markers.  For the stone pathway, I punched out 1/2" circles and itty bitty punch pack circles and trimmed them.  They also have a little gray chalk on them and the dots were added with the markers.  The house and stone pathway were attached to the card using a liquid glue.  

The greeting comes from the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set and was cut out using my big shot and the Bitty Banners framelits set.  I started by inking my stamp with VersaMark ink and then added Rose Red ink on the stamp too.  Then I stamped it onto Whisper White card stock.  By having the VersaMark ink to the stamp, it allows me to add a clear embossing powder to this and heat emboss it.  Once it was embossed and cooled, I cut it out with the framelits set and attached it to the card using dimensionals.

Now for the star of the card.  The card stock colors I used for Dino are Rose Red, Blushing Bride, Basic Black, Tempting Turquoise, More Mustard and Whisper White.  Here is a list of the punches I used for him:

Body - 2 1/2" circle trimmed to what I wanted 

Neck/Tail - re punch the 2 1/2" circle offset from the body hole twice for these

Arms - retired photo corner punch; use the smaller of the corners and punch one out and re punch it a little offset twice

Legs - large oval cut in half and trimmed

Hands - feet of the owl from the owl builder punch

Feet - boho blossom punch

Head/Muzzle - large oval punch; for the muzzle you punch it out and then trim it to the size you want

Nostrils - owl builder punch; use the smallest circles

Eyes - small heart from the retired heart to heart punch

Spots - 1/2" circle and circle from itty bitty punch pack trimmed to the shape I wanted

Tag - 1/4" circle 

The collar is a scrap of turquoise and the hair are leftover scraps from when I trimmed the spots down.  I added some Blushing Bride marker around the nostrils and used it to draw the smile on.  I added white gel to the eyes and some Rose Red marker to the legs.  The muzzle of the face looks bumpy because silly me forgot to attach the eyes before attaching the muzzle.  Of course this meant that I had to pry up the edge of the muzzle to get the eyes under it.  Silly me.  I also added Crystal Effects to the spots and the tag.  I love the puffy, shiny look!!  I think next time I will outline some of the body parts with black marker just to highlight them.  Thepieces of Dino are adhered together using liquid glue and the completed Dino is attached to the card using dimensionals.

A Card For A Boy

Today I wanted to share with you a card I made that I think would be perfect for a boy.  Now you can give this to a girl too but since I always run short of boy cards I think I will reserve it for that.  Anyway, I went into my craft room yesterday having absolutely no idea what I wanted to make.  Then for some reason I started thinking about my youngest daughter's love of dinosaurs.  She has always liked them and that is why I said this card could be for a girl too.  So I pulled out a dinosaur stamp I have and using it as my guide I chose punches I thought would work to make this dinosaur.  Here is what I came up with:

Isn't he cute?!  I started with a base card of Always Artichoke.  It measures 4 1/4" x 11" and is scored at 5 1/2".  I added a layer on top of this measuring 4 1/8" x 5 3/8".  I chose to make this layer out of Soft Suede and attached it using a runner adhesive.  For the final layer, I took a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Whisper White and using my pastels I created a sky and ground background.  I attached this to the Soft Suede using the runner adhesive again.  

For the greeting, I pulled out my Perfect Punches stamp set and chose the birthday saying.  Before stamping it, I took a scrap piece of Whisper White and chalked the sky background onto it.  I then stamped the greeting using Pacific Point ink onto the chalked piece and punched it out using the wide oval punch.  I attached it to the card using dimensionals.    

My dinosaur came together fairly easily.  I started with my 2 1/2" circle punch.  I punched one out of Always Artichoke for the body. I used Always Artichoke card stock for the entire body.   After it was punched out I flattened one side of it and set it aside.  Next I took the 2 1/2" circle punch again and placed it around the hole left for the body.  I offset it and punched and then repeated this.  One of these curved pieces was used for the neck while the other was used for the tail.  For the legs, I punched out a large oval.  I cut it in half thus making 2 legs.  His head is a 1 3/8" circle.  I used Whisper white and Basic Black for the eyes and nostrils.  The white of the eyes is the circle punch from the itty bitty punch pack.  The black of the eyes and the nostrils are from the owl builder punch.  I drew the mouth on using a fine tip black marker.  To make the toes, I used my 1/4" hand held circle punch and Very Vanilla card stock.  I attached the toes to the legs and trimmed off any excess hanging over the edge. The spots and spines are made using Soft Suede card stock. The spots on the tail and on the body are from the circle punch of the itty bitty punch pack.  Again I trimmed off any excess from the tail.  For the spines I used the retired 5 petal flower punch.  I only punched one flower and trimmed off all the petals.  They as well as all the other pieces of the dinosaur are attached to one another using a liquid glue.  I attached the finished dinosaur to the card using dimensionals.  

The inside greeting comes from the stamp set Dinoroar.  I stamped it using Always Artichoke ink onto Whisper White card stock and trimmed it using my paper trimmer.  Once it was the size I wanted, I used my corner rounder punch to round the corners and edged the saying with Soft Suede ink.  It is attached to the inside using runner adhesive.

Halloween Day 2

Yesterday I shared a card with you of a Halloween ballerina.  I wanted to continue that theme today so the card I have to share today is another Halloween one.  This one has lots of punch art items on it so let's get started shall we.

I started with a base card of Lucky Limeade cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  I then added a layer of Basic Black cut at 4 1/8" x 5 3/8".  I attached it with runner adhesive.  For the final layer, I used a piece of designer paper I picked up at a local craft store.  It is cut at 3 3/4" x 5".  I attached it with runner adhesive and then added some dots of Stickles orange glitter glue for added jazz.  

The first creature I added to my card is a bat.  I used the retired bat punch to punch it out of Basic Black.  I added a couple of dots of Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details for the eyes and attached him to the card using dimensionals.  Next I punched a modern label out of Lucky Limeade.  I set this aside until I was ready to use it.  Next I stamped my greeting from the Teeny Tiny Wisher stamp set onto Whisper White card stock.  I used an embossing powder called Halloween that is black with orange glitter in it to heat emboss the greeting.  I got this powder a few years ago at a stamp convention.  I then punched the greeting out using the word window and layered it onto the modern label using a runner adhesive.  I attached the entire piece to the card using dimensionals and added a dot of orange Stickles on each end. 

Here comes the creepy spider crawling down the wall!  He only used Basic Black card stock so it is easy to know what color you need for him.  His body is a 3/4" circle and his head is a 1/2" circle.  For his legs, I took the piece I had punched the bat out of and using the retired bat punch, I off set it from the bat hole and punched.  I did this 3 times.  All pieces of the spider are attached together with a liquid glue and Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details dots were added for the eyes.  The completed spider is attached using dimensionals.

Here you can see the last 2 punch art creations that were added to the card.  Let's start with the cat.  You need Whisper White cardstock for the cat, Lucky Limeade for the eyes and collar, Basic Black for the eyes and Elegant Eggplant for the mask.  The cat is very easy to make.  I used the large oval punch for the head.  I then offset the punch from the hole and punched again for the tail.  The legs and ears were made using the retired 5 petal flower punch.  You only need one flower for these.  The body is the word window punch.  The green of the eyes is a 1/2" circle cut in half and the black are the medium size circle from the owl builder punch.  For the collar, I used the retired horizontal slot punch.  You can use just a simple scrap of card stock.  The mask was made using the curly label punch.  I only punched a half of the label and then punched the top with the large oval punch to give it the swoop.  The holes for the eyes were made using the circle from the itty bitty punch pack.  Now I will let you in on a little secret - I attach the eyes to the mask and then to the cat's face.  This way I do not have to worry about spacing them just perfectly.  I drew the whiskers on with a black marker and added white gel to the eyes.  I also added a purple Stickles glitter glue to outline the mask.  I also added Crystal Effects to the collar.  All pieces were adhered together using a liquid glue and the finished cat was attached using dimensionals.

Now onto the cauldron.  I used Basic Black, Whisper White and Lucky Limeade card stock for this.  The body of the cauldron is made using the decorative label punch.  You only need 1/2" of the label so either punch it along the edge of the card stock or cut it in half after you have punched it.  The legs of the cauldron are the owl from the owl builder punch.  I turned him upside down and stood him on his ears.  It makes perfect feet for the cauldron.  The scallop bubbles along the edge of the cauldron are made using the scallop oval punch.  Punch out the oval and then reinsert it into the punch and punch again.  The bubbles behind this are 1/2" circles while the bubbles on the front are made with the circle punch from the itty bitty punch pack.  All pieces were attached together using a liquid glue.  I then added a frosted glitter glue to the white bubbles and Crystal Effects to the green bubbles.  The completed cauldron is attached to the card using dimensionals.

Halloween Ballerina

So yesterday I mentioned that I worked on a few ideas for my holiday cards this year.  Well I always start with Halloween when I approach the holidays.  It is my husband's favorite holiday and we decorate a lot for it.  He would be very disappointed if I skipped it in my card making.  Besides, I like to send cards to all the kids in the family.  They get a kick out of them and I love to make them.

I started with a couple of basic cards this time.  The one I will be sharing with you today is not the one I had planned to make.  I had pulled out my paper and punches to get started and then I looked at my punch sample board.  I happened to see my little ballerina dress which I did last year for Halloween.  I thought, why not make another one of those but include a body in it this year.  So that is just what I did .  Ready to see it?  Here we go!

I used a set of designer series paper from last years catalog for this one.  While the dsp is retired, the card stock colors are not.  I started with a base card of Cajun Craze cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  I added a piece of designer paper that is gray in color with those cute spider webs on it.  I cut this to be 4 1/8"   x 5 3/8".  I then put a piece of Basic Black grosgrain ribbon (retired) across the top and bottom of the card. It was then attached to the base using a runner adhesive.  I chose not to use more than one layer due to the size of the ballerina.  She goes from top to bottom on this card!

Speaking of the ballerina, let's talk about how I made her now.  I started with a 1 1/4" circle punched out of Blushing Bride (retired) for her head.  I then punched another circle, same size out of Early Espresso.  I cut it in half to make her bangs.  I tried to do a little wavy cut and snipped out a couple of bits of it.  I then punched a 1" circle out of Cherry Cobbler.  I set this aside as I would not need it.  I just needed the hole it left behind.  I punched another circle off set to make the headband and then punched a 1" circle from Early Espresso for the bun. A word window was used to make the ears and the neck.  For her eyes, I used the owl builder punch for the white and the standard 1/4" hand held hole punch for the brown which happens to be Soft Suede card stock.  The 1/4" hole punch was also used for the nose.  I added white to the eyes with gel pen and drew the smile on using the Cherry Cobbler marker.  For the arms, I used the retired photo corner punch.  I punched out the small one and then punched again off setting the punch.  Her bodice of the dress is made with the retired rounded tab punch.  Once I punched it out of dsp, I used my 1 1/4" circle punch to make the scoop neck of the top of the dress.  I added glitter glue to the headband and a few spots on the dress.  I also added small black gems to the ears for earrings.

For the skirt, I used the blossom builder punch.  The largest petal was punched out of Vellum card stock while the smaller ones were punched out of Cajun Craze, Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler.  I edged the Vellum petals with black ink and then attached the smaller petals to them using a liquid glue.  Glitter glue was used to make the dots on the top petals.  I added a black gem to the bottom of each petal.  Her legs are word windows.  To make her ballet slippers, I used the word window punch.  I punched it out of Basic Black and them trimmed the ends off for the toes.  I used a scrap to make the ribbons for the slippers.  Once she was all put together I attached her to the card using dimensionals.  The greeting is from the stamp set Wicked Cool.  I stamped it onto Whisper White using VersaMark ink and heat embossed it using black embossing powder.  I free hand cut it out and attached it with dimensionals.

Poor Little Penguin

Happy Monday everyone.  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  I spent part of mine working on ideas for my Christmas cards!  Yes it is once again time to plan and start working on those.  I have to admit, I have not sent many out in the last 2 years.  When my brother passed away, I kind of gave up on everything for a while.  It has taken me until this year to feel really motivated to make and celebrate anything to do with the holidays.  But before I could work on any ideas, I had to make a get well card for my husband's charity he is in charge of so I wanted to share it with you.

I started with a base card of Elegant Eggplant cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  I added a layer of Whisper White which was cut to be the length of the card and trimmed one edge with the retired eyelet border punch.  I then added a layer of a designer series paper I picked up at a craft store making it once again the length of the card and edging it with the retired eyelet border punch.  The layers were all attached to the base using a runner adhesive.  

For the focal point of the card front, I started with a piece of Whisper White card stock measuring 2 1/2" x 3 3/4".  I pulled out a Stampin' Up! stamp set which is from years ago and therefore is retired to use for this one.  I do not know the name of this set as it was given to me used and the name was not on it.  I just call it my get well penguin set.  I stamped the saying using Basic Black ink onto the top part of the card stock and then stamped the penguin using StazOn ink on the bottom half.  I used the StazOn because I wanted to water color my penguin and needed an ink that dried quickly and would not smear.  I pulled out Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Elegant Eggplant, Melon Mambo and Tempting Turquoise ink pads.  Using my blender pens, I colored in the areas of the design I wanted to add a little color too.  Once this was completed and dry, I edged the white with the eggplant ink and attached it to the card using runner adhesive.

For the inside, I stuck with the same stamp set.  I started by stamping the saying in Basic Black on Whisper White card stock, cut it down to a size I liked and adhered it using runner adhesive.  Next I stamped the band-aid using the retired Creamy Caramel ink onto retired Creamy Caramel card stock.  I cut the band-aid out and used my Real Red marker to color in the heart.  You can use the Crumb Cake card stock and ink for this.  It works well too.

Inspiration By Pinterest

A couple of months ago, my oldest daughter introduced me to Pinterest.  I had no idea what it was but she assured me I would really like it.  Well, she was right.  I not only post my creations there but I find good recipes and inspiration for cards as well.  I will say you do need to set aside time to spend going through all of the things you can find there.  Trust me you can get lost for hours if you are not careful.

My share from today was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest by Peg Coombes.  When I saw her card, I immediately loved it and wanted to try it.  I have changed the theme of the card and the colors and decorations to suit my needs.  Let me show you what it looks like.

The part inspired by Peg is the actual piano.  We will get to that in a few minutes.  I chose to use a base card of Tempting Turquoise cut at 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2".  I knew I was making this for a birthday and wanted bright happy colors for it.  I added a layer of a white glitter card stock I found at a local craft store.  It is cut at 4" x 5 1/4".  To make the top layer of this card I started with a piece of Whisper White card stock cut at 3 3/4" x 5".  Then I took scraps of Elegant Eggplant, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight and Gumball Green and cut strips measuring 1" x 3 3/4".  I adhered these side by side using runner adhesive.  I wanted to emboss it so I ran it through the big shot using a music note impression folder I got at my local craft store.  You have to put a little muscle into this when running it through since it is 2 layers thick.  I then sprayed it using my champagne shimmer spray.  All layers were adhered together using the runner adhesive.

Let's move on to the words on this one.  I know it is hard to see but I used the same white glitter card stock to cut out the letters.  I ran the pieces through my big shot using the Billboard letters die which is retired now.  These were adhered to the top of the piano using a liquid glue.  (Yes I know I was a little messy but it is hard to not get a little extra glue somewhere on the card.)  I also used a small music note punch I was given as a gift and punched out 3 of these from the same card stock.  They too are adhered using the same liquid glue.

Now lets talk about the piano itself.  I started by cutting a top note using my big shot and Basic Black card stock.  I actually cut 2 of these and then cut 1 of those in half.  Next I punched out word windows from Whisper White and Basic Black card stock.  I placed the white ones side by side across the top note and adhered them down with a runner adhesive.  Then I took the black ones and placed them to look like the upper keys on the piano.  These were also adhered with the runner adhesive.  Once these were all in place and securely fastened, I placed the half top note on the top of the piano and adhered it using the runner adhesive.  I sprayed this with the champagne shimmer spray also which you can see in the picture with the words really well.

I love this piano.  I certainly hope to use it again for another card.  Maybe I will do a holiday card with it.  If you have never been on Pinterest, I encourage you to go and take a look at it.  You will be pleased with the variety of topics and the creations you find there.

Our Beautiful Little Niece

Hi everyone.  I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July and spent some time with your family.  I did a non-traditional meal for our day - I roasted a turkey.  I found that I still had one in the freezer a few days ago and while we did not want a Thanksgiving meal, I though why not cook it and make some delicious sandwiches from it.  So that's what we did.  It took up my afternoon though so no time was spent crafting.

Now I know what you are thinking - why did you not craft in the morning?  Well I spent the morning at Phoenix Children's Hospital visiting our newest niece.  She was born in June but needed a little extra care so she has been at the hospital every since.  Hopefully she will get to go home on Friday.  Her name is Sloane and she is so precious.  I thought I would show you the card I made for her.

I decided to do blocks to spell out her name.  I used pinks and purples because she is a girly girl.  The bear was cut out using my Cricut Machine.  I used a product on him called Fun Flock.  It adds texture and actually makes him fuzzy!!

Hopefully you can see some of the flock in this picture.  I used black glitter on the nose and mouth to help them stand out.  Normally I would show you the inside of the card.  However, it does contain a photo and I did not get mom's permission to share it with you.  I placed the photo on the inside panel of the card and used the other side to write her birth information and a special message just for her.  It turned out really cute and her mommy loved it.

New Character

I am a huge cartoon fan.  I love to watch all the old ones like The Jetsons and The Flintstones and Scooby Doo.  I do not watch a lot of the modern day ones mainly because I do not enjoy the violence and grossness of them.  I just think cartoon makers have gone too far.  There are not many that are introduced today that I would want my kids to watch. 

 However, every now and then a pretty decent one does come on the air and I find myself watching it.  A few years ago, my kids and I use to watch Kim Possible.  The girls loved her.  Then another Disney cartoon came on the scene and it is one I really enjoy.  What's its name you ask?  Why, it's Phineas and Ferb.  I love this cartoon.  So it is no surprise that I found myself watching it the other day.  They had 4 in a row on after all.  When I finally pulled myself away, I wandered into my craft room to try and decide what I wanted to create.  As I was looking at my punches, one of them caught my eye and all of a sudden I knew what punch art character I was going to make.  Ready to see who I chose to do?  Let's get started.

It's Phineas!!  But let's not get ahead of ourselves.  I started with a base card of Garden Green cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  I then added a layer of Night of Navy cut at 4" x 5 1/4".  For the final layer, I chose Whisper White and cut it to be 3 3/4" x 5".  I added 1" and 3/4" circles punched from the Night of Navy and Garden Green.  I adhered them to the white using my runner adhesive and then ran the piece through my big shot using the Argyle impression folder.  I attached all the layers together using a runner adhesive.  

Now let's talk about Phineas.  I made him based on a sticker I happen to have of him.  He is my own design so I hope you like it.  For his head, I used the pennant punch and Blushing Bride card stock (retired).    I drew the mouth onto his face and cut out the parts I wanted cut out.  I cut out the teeth so that I could add a small piece of white for them.  I colored in the tongue with a dark pink and the inside of the mouth with my Real Red Market.  For his hair, I took a scrap piece of Real Red card stock and punched out a small oval.  Then I just free hand cut the hair until I thought it looked pretty good.  I attached it to the head using liquid glue and add the freckles with my Crumb Cake marker.  His eyes were made with 2 punches.  First I used the owl builder punch for the whites.  Then I used my hand held 1/8" circle punch for the black part.  One eye is glued on the front of the face while the other one attaches to the back.  I added white gel pen to the eyes.  By the way, all of the pieces to him were attached together using a liquid glue so if I forget to mention that you will know.  

For the arms, I used my word window punch and Blushing Bride card stock (retired).  Now you can punch a word window and then cut it in half for the arms but I chose to simply punch the window along the edge only cutting a half at a time.   His neck is also a half of a word window punch.  Then I used the scalloped flower from the boho blossom punch for his hands.  The sleeves to the shirt are the ends of a word window punched out of So Saffron card stock.  The shirt is a large oval out of So Saffron trimmed to fit.  I added the stripes myself using my Tangerine Tango marker.  

His shorts are the vest from the owl builder punch in Night of Navy blue.  I cut off the widest end of the vest and trimmed the corners in so it would fit behind the shirt.  The legs were made the same way as the arms using the word window punch.  I also punched a piece of Night of Navy with it to make the socks.  For the shoes, I used a new punch from the 2012-2013 catalog.  It is from the Little Labels punch pack.  I used the one that resembles the decorative label punch.  I punched 2 in Night of Navy and 3 in Whisper White.  I layered the navy on top of the white leaving a bit of white showing at the bottom of each.  I took the 3rd white one and cut each end off to use for the toes of the shoes.  I trimmed the bottoms of the white and navy flat prior to attaching them.  The point on top was trimmed off and the heels were rounded.  I then added a little white get pen to the shoes for laces.   The completed Phineas was attached to the card using dimensionals.  

The greeting comes from the retired stamp set called King of the Grill.  I stamped it using Night of Navy ink onto Whisper White. It was punched out with the small oval punch.   I edged half of it with Night of Navy ink and the other half with Garden Green ink.  I then punched a large oval out of Garden Green and Night of Navy.  I cut the navy one in half and attached just one half to the green.  I ran this through the big shot using my Perfect Polka Dots impression folder.  I attached the small oval to the depressed dots side (instead of the raised that I usually do) using my runner adhesive.  The entire greeting was attached to the card using dimensionals.

Sparkly Birthday

Happy Monday and Happy July everyone.  I cannot believe it is July already.  My oldest daughter is so excited to see this month get here.  Her boyfriend has been training in Florida for 2 months and is finally coming home this weekend!! He serves in my favorite branch of the military - the Air Force.  I grew up an Air Force brat and have a brother who just started his career with them too so I am partial to them and always will be.  Needless to say her boyfriend holds a special place in my heart and I am so proud of the job he does.  He also happens to be a terrific guy too!  We are excited to have come him back and to get to see him again, that is if my daughter will share him with us.

Today, I wanted to share a birthday card I made for a friend this weekend.  Now I cannot tell you who the friend is because I want to be sure she receives it first.  For some reason when I think of her I think of sparkly things.  So it seemed fitting to use glitter paper for the card.  So without further ado let's get started.

I started with a base card of Elegant Eggplant cut at 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2".  I added a layer on top of that of a pink glitter paper I picked up at a local craft store.  I cut a piece of it to measure 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" and adhered it using runner adhesive.  For the last layer I went with a piece of Whisper White.  I cut this one to be 3 3/4" x 4 3/4".  I cut it a little smaller than I would have normally in order to have the glitter paper show.  It is also adhered using a runner adhesive.  

I took my cupcake builder punch and punched cherries and dots out of the pink glitter paper.  I added these to jazz up the background.  I adhered them using a liquid glue.  I thought it would hold them best. 

For the greeting I used my Create a Cupcake stamp set.  I stamped this using Elegant Eggplant in onto Whisper White card stock.  I punched it out using the word window punch.  Next I punched a modern label out of Elegant Eggplant card stock.  I adhered the greeting to the eggplant using a runner adhesive.  I then added a hot pink gem stone to each end and attached it to the card using dimensionals.

Since I made all the cupcakes the same, I decided to just show you one.  I used the cupcake builder punch to make these delicious looking creations.  I punched the bottom half out of a sparkly glittered zebra print card stock I got at a local craft store.  The tops were from the glittery pink card stock.  For the dots, I used my Glimmer Silver card stock while the cherries are from the Glimmer Red card stock.  I attached all these little pieces together using a liquid glue.  It takes time for this to dry and I have had pieces fall off if I manipulate items too soon.  So I allowed the cupcakes to dry completely before attaching them to the card using my dimensionals.  

Here is a look at the inside of the card.  I chose a stamp from the Created a Cupcake stamp set and stamped the saying using Elegant Eggplant ink onto Whisper White card stock.  I then took my Hearts framelits and chose a size that fit around the saying.  I cut this out using my big shot.  I then cut the next size up heart out of the pink glitter card stock.  I layered these together using a runner adhesive and then attached it to the card with the same runner adhesive.  

I truly enjoyed making this card.  All the glitter was fabulous!!  I really hope my friend likes it when she gets it.
